So and Nakamura in quiet start to Grand Prix final

Wesley So and Hikaru Nakamura made a quiet and at times puzzling start to the FIDE Grand Prix final in Berlin, with a 30-move draw. Wesley took long pauses, but essentially he followed a game he’d played against Jeffery Xiong in last year’s US Championship for 27 moves, before playing a novelty that led to an instant draw. The twist was that this time he was playing from the white side after finding himself under pressure in that previous game with Black.
